Welcome Artists!

We're really looking forward to getting started with the 'All Abilities' course soon, and hope you are too!  Here is some final information for you, so you know what to expect and what to bring.

You can park for free in the Church car park (ignore the bays and park wherever suitable), and on Lichfield Road (but please check signage as directly outside is for 2 hours, but slightly further up the road has no time restrictions). The classes take place in the room to the right just past the small hall once you enter the Church.  Please enter through the car park via the side doors where you should see our Art For Life sign.

The Tutors

Our lovely tutors Mandy and Sabrina will be taking care of you - Mandy teaches on Tuesdays and Sabrina teaches on Mondays and Wednesdays.  Suki will also be there to help out regularly and make sure you have enough tea/coffee and biscuits! You can find out a bit more about us all here.

Everyone attends for different reasons, but you're all on a journey and we’re there to help each person make progress.  Please don't hesitate to ask for help, and let us know if you don't understand something - there’s no such thing as a silly question! And if you’re new - please don't feel anxious about your first class - everyone's very friendly and the tutors are there to help you enjoy yourself as well as learn!

The Curriculum & Term Dates

You can find a copy of the curriculum in the 'Students' section of the website. The password is ‘artrocks’.  There you will also find a list of term dates for each class, and other useful information about the course. In addition we will have a Student Gallery which we update each week so you can see the work from the artists across all of our classes (I’ve left last terms gallery on if you’d like to take a look).  If there are any dates you can't do and would like to swap to another class, please let us know and we will check availability for you. Do let us know if you have any questions, otherwise we look forward to seeing you soon!

Please note - we take photos for our website and social media pages to share what we’re doing.
Please let us know beforehand if you’d rather not be included.

Materials and Course Notes

All of the art materials and paper you’ll need in class are included in the cost of the course.  We also have a selection of rubbers, rulers, scissors and sharpeners for you to share but you're welcome to bring your own if you wish. Please make sure you label your own belongings so we know who to return them to if you leave something behind by mistake.

If this is your first All Abilities course, you will be given a folder on arrival containing 10 Starter Fact Sheets, which are full of useful information you can refer to at any time. Please remember to bring your folder as most weeks you'll receive additional sheets which will help with the lesson, and it’s so handy to refer to in class.

You're also welcome to bring a small sketch book (A4 size) in which to make notes and sketch out or plan your artwork.  We'll have some for sale for £6 in class should you wish to buy one but let me know beforehand so I can make sure we have enough.

We also sell folders and carry cases to keep your work safe, as well as a selection of art materials relating to each week’s project should you wish to buy any paints or accessories for use at home.  You can pay by bank transfer, cheque or cash.  (Please note you don't need to buy anything!  It just saves you taking a trip to the shops and wondering what to choose, as we have tried and tested lots of products over the years and know what is worth the money and what isn’t!)

Additional Activities

In addition to our courses, we run occasional art evenings, workshops and social events like Plein Air painting or Gallery visits.  You can find these here or on our social media pages, and we let you know about them via email too.  These additional activities are open to everyone, so a great way to get your friends and family involved too. We have an exciting range of options coming up for you this term, and we'll let you know more about each one over the next few weeks.
